This past spring we caught up with the ever-elegant Diarra Ndiaye; fashion model and our Collection 2 muse. Through our chat, we quickly discovered Diarra shares our passion for travel, self-care, and silk. Her personal style is in constant flux, and she speaks with us about her love of playing a different role based on every ensemble she chooses. This ability to become a different woman with every piece she handpicks resonates with the way we at SL approach designing. Collection 2 is all about deep, rich colours and boldly playful prints. Through our own curiosity and experimentation, we continue to offer pieces that are timeless and cool at their foundation while still allowing for dress-up and drama. What inspires you?
Fashion inspires me most. I also get inspired by music, art and the cities where I travel for my job. There’s no place like Paris and London.
How do you take time for yourself?
I love taking time for myself. Skincare is a great way to do this. I also love to cook, hang out with friends and re-read my favorite books. Painting is another activity I enjoy that can always make me relax.
What’s your favorite way to spend a Sunday?
For me Sunday is cleaning day! I clean my apartment and this really helps me to free the mind. I also do sports and chill with my friends. On Sunday we usually watch movies and eat junky food, something I look forward to all week.
If you had to wear a uniform everyday, what would it look like?
I think it would depend on the day and my mood. Sometimes I feel really elegant and stylish, and sometimes more rock and glamour. Recently I discovered K-pop style and I’ve really enjoyed experimenting with this.
What’s your style philosophy?
Mine would be to always experiment. The thing I love most about my job is wearing clothes from different designers. I couldn’t always wear the same thing. I like to play a different woman every day.
What is it about silk that you love?
I’m in love with Silk. It's really cool and feminine. You will always feel beautiful and modern but simple and sophisticated at the same time.
